Patented in 1882 with the novel idea of passing the whitening fluid direct to the front wheel via a slot with India rubber seals either side, therefore no other moving parts. This design was certainly successful as the line marker was still being sold in Greens 1938 catalogue in 5 different sizes with capacities form 1 gallon to 4 gallons and a marking width of 1¾ to 3in.
The two examples here, one restored the other original, I have not yet checked their capacities, but probably,1 and 1½ gallon. Both have the original Greens transfer.
