Ransomes Patent Edge Cutter

First seen in 1885 and appears to have been produced up to around 1899/1900 when the more regularly seen Ransomes edger with exposed gears appeared (see separate exhibit).

The unusual conical roller was for adjusting the depth of cut by simply tilting the machine.

This particular edger was in the same family for over 80 years and used regularly until recent times.
