Fair chance its not an early Ransomes or Greens not much "throwable" on them unless you are gifted with the strength of Hercules!!!!!!

Not the last time two people came to blows over their mowers though, is it? We've seen a few "near misses" on the past 30 years!

And quite possibly the fine was more than the mower cost new...

Right - that's it!  I'm going into even deeper self isolation.  My plastic Briggs and Stratton parts wouldn't hurt a flea if I threw them anyway! Funny how language has changed over the years as well.

We serviced a Mower, hedge cutter and a brush cutter for a man who took some convincing that we had not returned them with fuel tanks quarter full of water. Then his garden shed burnt down !

Apparently the work of his neighbours son.

That jogs a memory...we once had a Morrison rotary return  that had the petrol tank full of dried peas....well soaked peas actually.  I believe that turned out to be the grandson...and explained why grandad couldn't find his pea seed....smiley

I always remember  local gangs from a contractor would regularly come in just after lunch on a wet day with a strimmer that " Will only run for a few minutes and then stops"

The first couple of times it took an age to solve the problem,

Some very ingenious  operator had worked out that if you put the foil from your cigarette packet between the breather and the fuel cap it would stop the machine working, then a trip to the workshop and off home early.

Stay safe everyone and speak soon

We had a similar case but the chosen medium was bits from rolls of fibre glass roof insulation stored in the garage. When immersed in the petrol it broke up into tiny fibres and completely choked the carburettor. Must have been all of forty years ago .

Just think how life could be today with reporters reporting stories like that! Perhaps the BBC could take some sober lessons instead of dissecting every subject taking it to the bone!

Another memory of a certain Ransomes verge cutter (Multimower) we use to use on the open spaces gang, there was always a fight for it! The only mower that you could earn bonus on! Due to the fact it had a clicker clock on the right wheel,so when cutting an area we always had to remember to cut anti clockwise, each turn spun the clock on 3 clicks,my mate found that with a drill we could add a good few clicks on it,so much so we had to keep a private book to work the clicks for a day.The best news was the bonus office work 2 weeks in hand so could never catch up with the real amount of grass we cut

Another memory of a certain Ransomes verge cutter (Multimower)

I hesitate to say, were not the Verge Cutter and the Multimower two different animals?

Verge cutter

Multimower with rotary head

Multimower with cylinder / reel head.
