Looking for Ransomes Motor 3 users manual

About me:

I'm a new OLC member (Sept. 2018), living in The Netherlands.

I recently obtained a triple motorized reelmower, which showed to be a Ransomes Motor 3.

I downloaded a complete partslist from the Ransomes website.

Question:

I'm looking for a users manual of this mower.

Any extra information about this mower would also be very welcome!

Thanks in advance

Ranso-mess ;-)

Welcome.

Welcome.

The Motor Triple was in production for quite a long time with a variety of engines. Do you have the model number - Mk 1/2 etc or what engine does yours have ?

If it is a motor 3, it isn't

If it is a motor 3, it isn't a motor triple ;-)

I know you would think they were the same, but they aren't, I think a photo would be a good idea.

This mower has a Kohler K 321

The mower has a Kohler K 321  petrol engine.

Here in Holland this mower is unknown,  is it wellknown in the UK?

Can only say that in nearly 40 years in the mower business I have never come across one but I'm guessing that there's at least one  man on this forum who has!

I vaguely remember having it

I vaguely remember having it seen in Holland once before, maybe more than 40 years ago ;-) .

The mower is very heavy and the driver has to look back to prevent hitting a tree.

I'm going to use it for another application, without the rear cutting units .

The heavyweight is an advantage.

Well, I haven't seen one, I

Well, I haven't seen one, I saw two ;-)

This was in the early 70s, the company I worked for took them in as part exchange against two new Toro's, I say 'part exchange' it was more a slightly better discount as both machines went for scrap.

If you want any help with the Kohler engine, then this I can help with, the rest of the machine is a mystery to me, though probably it is just basic lawnmower construction.

Thanks Hortimech,

Thanks Hortimech,

Yes I suppose these mowers are from the sixtees but obviously never got popular. After some minor repairs the Kohler engine runs oké. However two sheetmetal coolingductparts above and around the cilinder are missing. The mower itself has a gearbox with automotive clutch and a V-belt variator, all heavyweight designed, probably the reason why it's all still working well .
