The Briggs & Stratton engine model is 92502 and it is dated as 17th Dec 1975.

The chunk missing in the front of the deck shouldn't propagate further, I wouldn't have thought.
The Hayterette deck was in production for over 30 years unaltered; so you should be able to pick one up, although they were quite prolific as a skip find about 25 years ago.
