Harrier 2

Hi all. I have a harrier 2 which I'm trying to get running. I cant get a spark when holding the ht lead to the engine at all. If I hold the end of it whilst my hand is on the engine I get a belt. Hand off and nothing. I've replaced the points and condenser. Cleaned the cut off switch. Any ideas ? Coil ?

Many thanks

Paul

The standard Briggs test was "will it jump a quarter inch gap off the end of the lead" ?  If so, good; if not, bad.  Maybe a bad plug cap or plug. Try it with the kill wire disconnected from the switch. If that doesn't work, its probably the coil . A pity that you've paid out for the points and condenser kit as a Chinese pattern electronic coil costs very little more and that's the ignition sorted for good. Also, most decent mower shops save electronic coils from engines that have died for other reasons and will sell you one for a tenner or so.

Hi. I disconnected the lill switch and still the same. Hasn't got a plug cap. I just held the lead and nothing . Only time I get anything is if I hold the end of the ht lead whilst my wrist is touching the engine .

Hi wristpin.

Not having much luck here. Could you tell me the part number etc of a electronic coil that will fit and how you fit them

Thanks

Paul

Stamped into the engine’s cowling, probably just above the spark plug, will be the words Model, Type and Code. Posting the numbers below those words will identify the engine precisely and ensure that you get the right coil.

Here's the numbers stamped on it 92982. 1231-01.  74072202. Think there might be a zero at the start but not sure.

Could anyone find the coil number by those please

Thankyou
