Ransomes Ajax Mk5 Spare Parts. Updated

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

Hi, I've just bought an Ajax Mk 5 in good condition and it's my first venture in cylinder mowers.

A set screw (S.29) at one end of the front roller is missing as is the oil nipple on the gear casing.

Is there anywhere that could supply these parts, especially the oil nipple?

I'll also need an oil gun to lubricate several points. Do I need a specific oil gun for this?

Thanks.

Update:

I've managed to source an oil nipple so that is sorted.

I just now need an oil gun that works and isn't expensive. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

A friend made some 'S29' screws for me. He used a piece of square section door handle rod.  I do not know the thread size offhand but one of the knowledgeable members here may know and if I find out soon I'll get back to you.

They work very well.

The front roller carrier is threaded to accept the set screw. The thread can be worn so that the set screw can no longer tighten and slips out maybe thats why it is lost.I do have spares and am willing give you for the price of post.

Hi Harvey and cjw123,

When purchasing the mower I had only seen photos and there was no set screw visible on the right side. However, when it arrived in the post, the screw was there! It's a different sized screw (which likely supports your statement on the threads wearing cjw123) but I'm going to leave it as is for now.

Thanks.for your replies and if I decide to change the screw, I know where to ask,

Thanks again.
