Ransomes Auto Certes Mk 7

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

The cylinder clutch actuating arm on my Auto Certes is worn where the lugs on the fork bear on the face of sliding clutch.  As a result the clutch doesn't quite disengage.  Should the lugs be square or do they start off as round pins.  Am thinking of building it up by welding/brazing and grinding to shape.  Can anyone advise please and how are these lubricated where they bear on the clutch as they must be prone to wear?

They start life round and as they are riveted in they may be rotated to compensate for wear.

If the clutch is correctly adjusted they should only be rubbing at the actual point of disengagement. With the clutch in drive the lugs should be just clear of the collar and when the dive is  fully disengaged there should be no rotational movement between lug and collar.

Thank you wristspin.  Couldn't have hoped for a more comprehensive response and obviously that's why the lugs are flat on a couple of sides, as they must have been rotated previously.  Very grateful for your advice.
