Shredded belt

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

I need a new drive belt for my Webb, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a supplier. The machine is a 1960s 18inch, and the stretched and shredded belt is 37 inches long by three-eighths wide. I wouldn't mind betting it has stretched by a good inch over time. And it looks too narrow for the pulley wheels, as if a half-inch V belt would be better. Any ideas?

If this has just the one belt then I'm thinking this will be the DB3600 belt, later numbered W28419 which should help a quick search.

Yes, that tallies with the size ref in an early Central book that I just found, whilst looking for the scarifier add on...which I couldn't find..smiley

As this is a 'clutching' belt, I would advise you to make sure it is a fabric covered belt, or better still a kevlar belt, a normal belt will not last any length of time.

Thanks very much, fellers. That's what I call excellent help! The old mower will be back in action soon.

I had a few minutes this morning and out of curiosity had a quick search and found this page which looks to have a huge selection of pattern belt equivalents, and thus looks a useful future resource, includes the one referred to in this thread, in a fabric/kevlar form.

https://shop.marksman-ind.com/atco--qualcast--suffolk-belts-359-c.asp   (For some reason it wouldn't open in my old version of Chrome though.!)   Haven't used this company for some while but seem to think last time I did it was for some bearings for my work Allett.
