6018 ?

I seem to remember it came out a bit lighter on the first SM I used it on.

Ah, thank you for the link....... .... I have to click on the select a colour square, didn't see that before!

Thank you for the colour code suggestion; The RAL6018 looks not bright enough and possibly needs more yellow pigmentation to achieve Silens Messor  Green's Green, shouldn't it be like this Green's Road Roller locomotive?

Having said that; From previous experience I am always suspicious of the actual colour match on a chart, so might be trial and error like usual.

The RAL6018 on this Silens Messor 8" looks a very good match, and more appropriate than the dark Green people incorrectly use on some "early" machines.

Obviously the owner of the machine has personal choice on how they want to proceed.

The RAL6018 looks certainly brighter than the paint chart square illustrated; indeed, I find different suppliers show different shaded test squares for the same standard codes.

Naturally any repainting I shall commence will depend on evidence of original paint found on an individual machine when dismantling.

Usually for brush on or spray tinned enamel's I go to a local trade paint shop to get paint mixed.  (they are currently closed)

Wristpin's excellent suggestion of a mail order supplier that can mix a full range of RAL & BS colour's is perfect.

I have scraped off the incorrect paint on my mower and now know the correct  shade of colour I require, but the said company that "can mix any colour," cannot mix every colour!!!!!

Says it can mix all RAL colours, but this is not true, only can mix the RAL classic,  BS4800 and BS381C

So despair!

Referring to my post

https://www.oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/forum/history-and-technical/technical/paint-codes-and-colours

The three RAL 6018 equivalents are found by clicking on the colour square

https://www.e-paint.co.uk/Lab_values.asp?cRange=RAL%20Classic&cRef=RAL%206018&cDescription=Yellow%20green

The club recipe for Greens paint pre 1930 is

https://www.oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/technical/colour/greens-pre-1930

but the Japlac enamel paint recommended is no more (Tikkurila Miranol is an equivalent paint).  Canary Yellow and Brunswick Green are available as BS 381C colours so if you bought a tin of each you could try mixing them 2:1.

Canary Yellow RGB = 234 196 10

Dark Brunswick Green RGB = 57 75 64

So (2 x Canary Yellow + 1 x Brunswick Green ) / 3 = RGB 175 156 28

Go to this link

https://www.e-paint.co.uk/Convert_RGB.asp

and stick in 175 156 28 and it shows Pantone 103U, but does that look anything like what you want!

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Many thank's for taking the time to advise.

Like yourself; I have got fully immersed or rather emulsified in paint.

My local Trade store is open now, but lots of suppliers online are cheaper!

I have something in the pipeline, waiting till it dries up to try it.
