Annual "Virtual" Rally 2021

Sadly, because of the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we have had to cancel our Annual Rally which was scheduled for the third weekend in May. Despite some restrictions being lifted, the weekend for our event was before the proposed opening date for museums and similar venues. We are hoping to arrange an alternative event at Milton Keynes Museum later in the year, subject to regulations allowing such events to take place.

In the meantime we are repeating our "Virtual Annual Rally" which was so successful last year. The allows members of The Old Lawnmower Club to display some of the exhibits they would have brought to our get-together in May.

We hope this collection will give a good idea of the variety of old mowers our members collect and the effort they all put into preserving and displaying them. Click on one of the images to find out more or visit the Virtual Annual Rally page.

BBC Gardeners World

UPDATE: THIS PROGRAMME IS NOW BEING BROADCAST AT 8PM ON SATURDAY 10 APRIL

Look out for club member Clive Gravett on BBC Gardeners' World this Friday (and the next couple of weeks) talking about the history of the mower in the programme's feature on lawn history. Some of the mowers that Clive displays in the Museum of Gardening at the South Downs Heritage Centre will be featured in the show.

If you are in the UK and miss the show it will be available on the BBC iPlayer after the initial transmission.

New Showcase Section

We are adding an exciting new section to the website to allow members of the club to highlight selected mowers in their personal collections. Called the "Showcase", this new section has been introduced in response to requests from members for a way to display some of their mowers permanently on the site.

Mowers are displayed in two different ways. On the main Showcase page the mowers are grouped by member while over on the grid view page all mowers are listed together.

Over time we hope that many of our members will contribute one or more of their mowers to the Showcase.
