Ransomes Minor

Hi everbody, This is my first post on here, over the past few months I've being bringing a Ransomes minor back to life, I bought it from a storage unit sale back in Aug last year as a non runner.

It's had a complete strip down and rebuild with a few new bearings, bronze bushes, coil, spark plug and a few other bits and pieces and I'm happy to say it started on Monday after a few swings of the handle and a little bit of tinkering with the timing. the only thing it's missing is the transfers on the side which I'm in the process of ordering and a grassbox (I've put an add in next months grassbox mag if anybody has one spare).

I know it's not showroom condition, I've done this to use as my everyday mower.

That's a nice looking working mower and good to see it's running ok. I am guessing it's from the 1960s? Might be worth asking any of the lawn mower museums if there's a grass box knocking round. Is that a 12" mower?

Yes have many boxes with many for Atco's I did have a plan  to bring them all to the AGM in 2 weeks time, but thats no longer an option, best to drop me an email & when I'm able to access my storage again I will see if I have one, from memory did they have a hook that went over a lug?

Hi Russ

Look at the machine plate on the side of the mower, tell me what it says and I will date it for you accurately

Kind regards

Looks good . A very useable mower which when sharpened and set gives a quality cut. The various grease nipples, including 2 recessed in the rear rollers, are  for oil not grease . An old Tecalemit gun from an autojumble works well.
