Hi l have a hayter 26" roller drive  mower with  a rotary mower deck and roller seat.. A 30" cylinder mower attachment was also made for these machines. Brian Bell's  book 70yrs of garden machinery says It was introduced in the late 1950's, but when did production cease?. My machine has a 1970    7hp briggs engine and 3 speed albion gearbox (kick start) , but l am not sure if this is the original engine, and so am looking to try and date the machine from production years

Hi and welcome to the OLC forum.

  I seem to remember that they were around at that time and were quite popular with local authorities and cemeteries etc but cannot help with production dates. You could try contacting Hayters and see if they can help. You need to be aware that you may have a machine that at some point in it's life has been fitted with a replacement engine only time and a bit of detective work will tell.
