Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

I have a suffolk engine with a Zenith TCA-2 carburettor which when i turn the fuel on petrol literally pours out of the air intake along with various other places, the gasket looks fine. I dont know how to ammend this problem.

If you have any advice for me that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

So the carb is flooding. Possible reasons:-

Leaking float filling with fuel and being too heavy to shut off the supply. Give it a shake and listen for fuel sloshing about inside  then put the it in a mug and add water just off the boil and watch for bubbles. If you can hear fuel or see bubbles there is the answer. It its a brass float you can seal it with a drop of solder or epoxy - just a drop or you will add to the weight. If its plastic you may be able to seal it with a soldering iron. However floats are still available and not expensive.

If the float is ok it may be dirt or grit between the taper of the needle and its seat. A good flush through with WD or carb cleaner starting at the tank and ending with the carb.

Possible wear between the needle and seat. New needle comes with the float and the seats are screwed in so easy to change. For worn needles some people recommend gently  lapping the needle taper into the seat with a mild abrasive such as Brasso or Solvol Autosol but I have never had much luck with that!
