Recoil starter missing Atco Villiers

Hello folks

Have just been fortunate enough to come by this my first old lawnmower (having started with a now stand alone suffolk engine)

I believe it is an Atco Villiers ? no idea of date or how to date it - carb is Villiers (S10/) as you can see.

Unfortunately i bought it with more enthusiasm than knowledge. What I thought was a simple wrap around rope type start is actually I now think a missing recoil starter assembly.

Any idea where I might find of these and at what price? Is it possible to rig something so i can try to get it running in the mean time? Will an alternative fit - I'm dying to get it fired up.

Thank you folks

Mike

Hello Mike, you can use the rope around starter pulley to start the engine until you can get a recoil starter assembly.Mike the pulley is made for the rope to be used when the recoil starter can not be used because of something breaking.Mike you can try meetens for Villiers parts.

Thank you Stokes. I did try winding a piece of rope around it - but found the rope slipped in towards the engine - maybe I need to change my technique and perhaps rope thickness.

I have contacted meetens - thank you for that tip.  In the mean time if anybody has the recoil assembly they would be willing to pass on or sell perhaps they could contact me.

Thanks again
