Although we held a small-scale event in October this will be our first "proper" Annual Rally since 2019. You can find out more about the rally elsewhere on our site.

This year we are celebrating the centenary of Atco and JP, two of the best known and successful manufacturers of the 20th century. The centenary was actually last year but we are including it in this year's event so that our members have a proper chance to recognise these significant anniversaries. Many of our members have examples of these manufacturers' machines in their collections and we will be featuring them over the weekend as our main rally themes.

The third theme of the weekend is mowers with a royal connection to mark HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee this year. If you're coming to the event, look out for mowers with names such as Monarch, Royal Blade, Marquis, or Windsor. Many manufacturers also supplied their machines under a Royal Warrant, so look out too for mowers with royal crests as part of their decoration.

This morning we have learned that there is a fourth reason to celebrate at Milton Keynes. The town - which has always called itself the "New City" - has finally achieved that status officially following the announcement by the Government. The Museum has been telling the story of Milton Keynes and the surrounding area for almost 50 years and becoming one of Britain's newest cities is now part of that history. We'll be helping the Museum celebrate its own milestone next year.

We hope to see you at Milton Keynes Museum this weekend.

Fri, 20 May 2022 08:25:51 +0000 olcadmin 9468 at https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/news/annual-rally-2022-weekend#comments Forthcoming Minor Mods to Site Menus https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/news/sitenews/forthcoming-minor-mods-site-menus Forthcoming Minor Mods to Site Menus olcadmin Wed, 23/02/2022

As part of our ongoing site revamp we will be making a few minor changes to the main menu structure at the end of February. We wanted a modern appearance that will work better on different devices.

The upgrade will also allow us to present content and information in new ways. We are still working on this but we didn't want the site to be offline for too long. Moving the site to this new version has involved a number of time-consuming tasks. This has been complicated because the content management system we use underwent some significant changes between the old version and the one we are now using. In particular, we are having to completely rebuild the way the information on the site is filtered and presented. That takes time and we will be adding these new sections back onto the site over the next few days and weeks.

In the meantime the blogs and popular forum sections are the first parts of the new site to be active.

Most of the original content is still on the site and can be accessed by using the search box. Direct links should also be working.

Sat, 29 Jan 2022 11:31:52 +0000 olcadmin 9223 at https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/news/welcome-our-new-website#comments Site Upgrade https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/news/site-upgrade Site Upgrade olcadmin Wed, 19/01/2022

Our site needs an upgrade to the underlying software so we will be going offline on Friday 21 January for a few days to complete the process.

During this time visitors will see a "Site Maintenance" message displayed.

All being well we will be back online sometime during the following week.

Wed, 19 Jan 2022 09:15:09 +0000 olcadmin 9219 at https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/news/site-upgrade#comments Annual Rally Atco Raffle https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/news/annual-rally-atco-raffle Annual Rally Atco Raffle olcadmin Sat, 18/09/2021

Members of the club will have a chance to win an Atco motor mower at this year's annual rally as part of our celebrations of this famous company's centenary. Long-standing club member Geoff Christopher has generously donated a 16" Atco "Standard" Motor Mower from the 1920s and a 14" model from 1962 that will be the prizes of a raffle on the Sunday of our event. Both mowers are complete with their grass boxes and in original, unrestored, condition so would make an excellent addition to anyone's collection. It's a great chance for everyone coming to our event to win a piece of mowing history that, in one case, is almost 100 years old. The draw will be held on the Sunday afternoon. All proceeds are being donated to our hosts at the museum to support the excellent work they do in promoting the history of the local community.

We normally hold an an auction during our weekend and it is always a popular part of the event. However, for a variety of reasons, we are not holding the auction this year. Instead, we are encouraging all members to bring any items they want to sell for the bring-and-buy section. This is a great way to pass on some surplus mowers and associated items and is also a popular part of our weekend.

Sat, 18 Sep 2021 08:52:12 +0000 olcadmin 9103 at https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk https://oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/news/annual-rally-atco-raffle#comments Annual Rally 2021: It's On!
