Hi all, does anyone know what the font is that was used on a qualcast model h handle? It's all I need to finish the mower. Thanks

It is very difficult to say what font was used for your machine. It is quite likely that a formally recognised font was not used at all but an adapted one to suit the taste and style of the time. This can be seen over the years with advertising material from the likes of other major manufacturers such as Greens, Ransomes and Atco.

I note that you are in Australia which is significant for the make and model you mention. I'm sure you are aware that Qualcast had their own factory in Victoria from about 1930 and it seems that the Model H was particularly popular. It is most likely that the Australian built machines would have had their own style of advertising and transfers etc. to suit the local market., and differing from Derby built products.

I have found this image of an indigenous Model H but we have no idea what the font is for the reasons stated above, it may though be helpful.

Thanks for the info, my model H doesn't have that sticker, it has black writing all the way down. It says this....

Made in Australia 'Qualcast bearing ' oil often

It sounds as though your machine is an earlier model to the one mentioned above. The same comments re the font still apply however. If it were me I would carefully photograph what remains on your handle and using a suitable programme on the PC digitally ' repair ' the image. In my case I would use Microsoft Paint 3D; others with better technical knowledge and ability may be able to advise further.

From experience I have to say that this will be laborious and time consuming but if successful you will end up with an image that can then be printed onto waterslide transfer sheets. These are generally available online. This may be the best solution to finish your project.

All sorted, I carefully re drew around what I could see with a fine gel pen and took it to a local sticker man. He will tidy it up and make me a stencil to use.
