I have what I think is a very close alternative to the expensive branded paint.  Its called Mid Brunswick Green synthetic enamel - generally used on stationary engines Lister etc, agricultural and military vehicles.  Its cheap enough on Ebay (ca £6  500ml) and can be supplied in 400ml spray cans ca £12 for a quick and easy job

I noticed that the original Ransomes paint job was a pretty poor affair

I discovered I was quite misled about Ransomes green. It turns out that the Matador had exactly the same shade as the Marquis. It was a trick of the light and not a sort of Apple Green
