Census
While walking the hound through a Fenland "breeze" this morning it occurred to me that a census of mowers might be an interesting idea. We often refer to mowers as being more or less common, but it would be nice to have an idea of how many of each model, and which sizes of each model, are in preservation. If members were to supply, anonymously should they so wish, an inventory of their sheds, it should be possible to put a spreadsheet together......
At this embryonic stage I had considered that make, model, cutting width & serial number if known would be the core information. Any other suggestions? For obvious reasons no information about who owns what could be published.
Do other members think that this could be useful, interesting and viable?
The amount of work for each member would not be excessive but the data input side would be considerable. With that in mind, I suppose I should volunteer since I am suggesting it.........

Indeed, Ray. I had thought that a form in Grassbox that could be posted would be a good idea, both for those who might not want to let their names be known and for those who do not use the net, although emailed responses would be easier to collate.
I had also wondered if it would be possible to extend the hunt to museums and such like.

Census
I would guess that for a census to be meaningful it would desirable to to have large collections and museums included.
But would you include mowers that may be in storage as a source of donor parts and may not be complete?

Census
Hello,
Hmm that is an interesting thought, it will be interesting to hear/read the thoughts of our member colleagues.
It would probably be a good idea to contact the OLC admin team as if the idea is to come to fruition then it will need to be posted via Grassbox in order to round up members who do not use the forum.
