By all intent, I gave no thought to collecting Lawnmowers, the Suffolk Viceroy MKII which had been given to me after expressing to an old friend an interest to buy one presented me the following day with what use to be his grandfathers lawnmower, he had no use for it on his farm, the lawnmower had stood idle for many years and if I wanted it, I could have it for free, well I was not going to say no to a free gift. We stripped it down, the seized bolts were not too much bother with a little WD40 and know how.

Rather than putting it back  together after a good clean, I stripped each part from rust and deteriorating paint followed by a new coat of paint according to the colour each selection use to be, the end result was pleasing to say the least.

The only issue to starting a restoration project is that once you have completed one, you feel the need to do another and so I started to look for other similar lawnmowers to then discover that the Suffolk Iron Foundry made other Viceroy models, it was from there that I wanted to collect the set within that range.

This was the beginning for me and I now have 4 different Viceroy models within a short space of time, three have a new coat of paint and the fourth in spite of its condition which is not too bad will just be given a deep clean.
