Hopwood Help
HELP WHEN CREATING A TONY HOPWOOD MEMORIAL PAGE
In memory of the former club chairman Tony Hopwood we invite members to visit an unusual location with a mower and take a photograph there showing themselves and their machine. All submitted entries will be published on the website on a map with links to the individual pages.
Filling In The Form
The form comprises a number of boxes or elements:
- Location: enter the name of the place where the photograph was taken. This will appear on the page on the website.
- Description: enter a few words about the location, the mower depicted, why you chose the location and - if appropriate - why the location is significant or important to you.
- Location: enter the address of the location where the photograph was taken here. You do not need to enter something in every field. If you provide a valid UK postcode the system will automatically find the location when you hit the "Find Address On Map" button. The system also works for photographs taken overseas if sufficient information (include local post code) is entered.
- Map: If you entered enough information in the address fields you do not need to do anything on the map. However, if you do not know the address or postcode of the location you can create a marker by simply clicking on the map in the correct place. You can move the marker and the map zooms in and out so that you can find the location easily.
- Latitude and Longitude: these are filled in automatically when you set a location using the address fields or by clicking on the map.
- Image: choose a file to upload. If you are using a PC you can browse to find the image on your machine. If you are using a smartphone or tablet with a camera you will be offered the option to take a photograph with your device at this point. Once you have chosen your file, don't forget to click the "Upload" button. Please note there is a limit on photo/image size (in terms of MB) but this is above the standard setting on most current smartphone models. Wait until the upload is complete before moving on to the next stage.
- Save: once the image upload is complete and you have filled in all the relevant fields/boxes simply click on the "Save" button. Your new page is saved automatically.
Notes
- The location you specified will appear on the map on the saved page as a yellow bubble icon.
- All published pages will appear as yellow bubble icons on the main map. You can click on the icon to view the full page submitted by other club members.
- Images are stored on the system in their full, original size but presented on the individual pages at a fixed width so that they do not overlap other parts of the page.
- You can edit your own entries if you are logged on to the site with your own unique username and password.
Rules
- Only one image allowed on each page/location.
- You can add as many pages/locations as you wish.
- The site admin will remove inappropriate pages immediately but will contact the member who submitted the pages to explain and ask for changes. The pages will normally not be deleted immediately. Instead, they will be "unpublished" so as not to be seen by site visitors until they have been corrected or removed completely.
- Inappropriate pages will include anything deemed to be "offensive", pages which do not meet the broad criteria for the project (ie are not a mower and club member in an unusual setting), and pages which have been incorrectly or only partially submitted (in which case the site admin will help put things right).
- The site admin's decision is final.
