John Ferrabee Buys Thrupp Mill, Phoenix Foundry & Ironworks and Associated Properties
After years of leasing from the Wathen family, John Ferrabee buys the whole site of Thrupp Mill, Phoenix Foundry & Ironworks, and associated properties on 5 July 1843 at a cost of £4000.

18431 July 5th. It relates that John Ferrabee bought the
[check] in July, 1843, for £4,000, including all landlord's fixtures in or upon the said foundry, etc. It also states that the house (Phoenix House) was "lately built by the said John Ferrabee", but later says "a great part of which has been erected and altered by the same John Ferrabee". Reference is made to "The Gig Mill House then used as a weaving shop site". It excepts from the sale five small pieces of land amounting to 1a. 2r. 18p. contracted to be sold to the Cheltenham & G.W.R. The estate sold to John was 21s. Or. 13p. The whole place was referred to as Thrupp Mill. Each parcel of land is described in detail and named:

The Other Ferney Close. (These are now one and known in the Thrupp as Verney Close.)
