Alexander Shanks Patent No. 1365

Alexander Shanks registered a design for his new lawnmower on 18 July 1842. This was numbered as 1365 and granted protection for three years under the Scottish system.

As was common practice at the time, a number of magazines and journals published details of recent innovations. This is the listing in The Mechanic's Magazine published on 23 July 1842.
