Surviving Ferrabee Rotary Fulling Machine

John Dyer of Trowbridge invented the rotary fulling machine (Patent No 6460, registered 13 August 1833). The design was improved by the Ferrabees by adding a parabolic spring to the top roller.

This example is preserved at Dunkirk Mill, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. It must have been manufactured between 1852 and November 1855 because it has the names J & H Ferrabee is on the name plate.
