Carding Machine at Dunkirk Mill

A carding machine is one of the many historic textile machinery and artefacts at Dunkirk Mill, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. The mill is located down the next valley to Thrupp & Brimscombe.

Various designs and regional variations of carding machine were constructed: this example is a "Lancashire Gig" type and is shown here set up with green snooker felt baize being being "carded" with 1000s of teasles to improve the cloth.
