Chain repair for Suffolk Colt
My Suffolk Colt threw the blade drive chain wrecking a link and breaking off the plastic face on the chain tensioner. I was able to repair the blade drive chain by cannibalising the roller drive chain. Now I have a push mower with motorised blade but no drive.
Where can I get chain links and joining links of the correct pitch and roll to repair the roller drive chain? I also need a new tensioner. Finally the drive sprocket on the blade is held in place by what I imagine is a shear pin, or perhaps a tubular drift. This was destroyed in the chain throwing incident. I have improvised with a nut and bolt, but it would be better to use the proper bit. Help please.

Still struggling a bit with the image upload and getting the orientation and the text right! The last image is the nylon/ plastic chain tensioner surface bit.
The cylinder sprocket drives
The cylinder sprocket drives the cylinder via a solid metal pin known as a Mills pin . It passes through a hole in the cylinder shaft and has a bulge in its centre to make it a friction fit and keep it in place. It’s possible that over the years the hole has stretched and that even a new pin may not be secure. The sprocket is held in pace by the nut that appears to be there in your images.
When / if you get the new plastic slipper for the tensioner it should bear on the outside run of the chain , pressing lightly inwards.
A visit to your local bearing / transmission factor should produce a new connecting link for the chain. Worth a visit as since so much chain now comes from India, Poland and probably China , there seems little standardisation of pin size. No problem with pitch, roller diameter or inner link dimensions but pin size can be difficult to match. At the worst you may have to settle for a new chain.

Thank you Wristspin, will report progress. Any ideas about sourcing the tensioner?

The first stop for a new
The first stop for a new nylon slipper to fit on to the metal bracket will be Jon Cruse at the Hailsham Mower Centre. Failing that it will be that auction site. Failing finding the nylon slipper , I’ve seen very good substitutes fashioned from a piece of hard wood - well greased. Although referred to as a tensioner it doesn’t actually apply tension but just stops the non drive side of the chain from flapping about.
Back in the day the part number for the slipper was was L4255 and the pin was L5118

Happily I was able to buy a chain, tensioner and joining links on eBay. It was secondhand but it fitted my mower perfectly.
Thank you for your help,
