Ransomes Twenty Four
Good evening. Does anyone have a copy of a Ransomes Twenty Four manual which could be uploaded or a link to one online please? I don't believe that there is one in the manuals section and have not managed to find one online so far.

A parts manual would be great
A parts manual would be great thank you.
That's perfect. Thank you
That's perfect. Thank you very much. I picked one up on Friday; this will help with visualising how it works as I start to have a look over it.
They are a fairly straight
They are a fairly straight forward machine . A bit of an oddity In that they had sealed cylinder bearings that could not be lubricated and only lasted a season or two of mowing the sort of area that a 24” machine would be bought for . They also have “ plastic” differential gears in the rear roller which were not that long lasting.

Hopefully won't be too much
Hopefully won't be too much of an issue for me as it is more for me to tinker with mechanically and one for the collection instead of something which will be called upon for its original job.
The manual has already answered one question for me. I wondered if the chain tightener on mine was original as it seemed less "substantial" than those I've seen on other machines but it is correct.
Why did Ransomes make this mower? They seem to already have offered a 24" machine in the Matador so it's not immediately obvious to me where the gap in the market which necessitated the Twenty Four was.
Only Ransomes will know! My
Only Ransomes will know! My guess is that felt the need to try and grab a bit of the Atco and Webb 24 market but the Matador was perhaps deemed to be too heavy for domestic users and definitely in the wrong price bracket. My Dad bought a 30" Dennis just before WW2 and ran it until he was in his early 70s when it became too heavy - particularly not having a reverse to back away from the tip. He replaced it with a Ransomes Twenty Four with a Villiers F15 but never really liked it. I still have both the Dennis and the Ransomes.
Definitely have a parts
Definitely have a parts manual , may have an operator's manual . Which do you want?
