A great Rally at Milton Keynes this year; happily lots of members who were unable to attend last Autumn, due to the various National problems' were able to attend.

The Brightest Star was certainly the well deserved winner of the AG Plate 2022;  Keith our President with his amazing, rare and beautifully ornate Shanks 1862 Newly Improved Patent, two handed Machine.  (I didn't measure the cutting width)

We have all seen this machine illustrated in the Seminal Work; The Shire Book on Lawnmowers, and we are all  now blessed that a rare survivor has been found!

April 1862, As I posted two years ago, is the first time in the Gardeners Chronicle, that the ornate foliated design is shown.    Articles by Shanks prior to April 1862  do mention improvements and features as utilised on this machine......... now  we Flick forward a few weeks  to May 1862 and another fine advertisement..........
