Automatic pseudo subject titles in posts

Is there a way to stop pseudo subject titles being automatically generated for every post in a thread from the first 25 characters in it? IMHO, there is no need at all for every response to an initial post in a thread to have its own subject line. Some may elect to create one it if it suits a particular purpose; otherwise please just leave it blank.
