Dennis Mowers Urgently Need Homes
Dennis mowers from the late Malcolm Hemley's collection are now available for Old Lawnmower Club members to acquire but time is very short. The main challenge is that following Malcolm's death last year the solicitors handling his estate, having previously restricted access, have now decided that they will begin to clear the site very soon. This means that the mowers will be sent for scrap unless new owners can be found for them in the next few weeks.
There are over 40 Dennis mowers dating from the 1920s/30s through to the 1960s/70s in various states of repair. These are generally "non-runners" and several are incomplete but there are plenty of spares so it may be possible to find "missing" parts to make up a complete machine. In addition, there are approximately 15 machines from other manufacturers.
Tim Stubbs (member of the OLC and The Dennis Society) has been liaising with the solicitors and has visited the location of the collection in Dorset with Seb Austin and other club members to assess what is there. The photos below give an idea of what is available.
Tim advises that costs of the mowers will be modest and reasonable. Access to the site is restricted but it is possible to visit by prior arrangement. Seb has offered to co-ordinate with the solicitors if anyone is interested and would like to view the mowers. Please CLICK HERE TO SEND AN EMAIL an email for further details and/or additional photos.
