THE SMITHFIELD IRONWORKS OF THOMAS GREEN & SON OF LEEDS!

According to John Pease's book on Thomas Green & Son of Leeds, it says on page 37 that the Smithfield Works was bought as a former hotel in 1922, I thought this was rather late, and this lovely advert in the Gardeners Chronicle from March 28th 1863 proves it!

HI Paul
Interesting but digging deeper Thomas Green purchased 97 North St, Leeds (Smithfield Ironworks) in 1847, see attached. In front of the premises the Smithfield Hotel was built in 1860 to serve the Leeds Cattle Market opposite, this appears to have closed in 1900 & Greens then bought it for their 'Office' space, exact date not yet found.
