Follows & Bate's Climax
Images below of a Follows & Bate's 7in Climax acquired recently, most of those I know of being 6in cutting width, except I believe one of Hall & Ducks (is it an 8in or 10in Andrew?).
I have put it alongside a 6in, other than the extra inch both wheels are geared to drive the cutting cylinder which has 5 blades, rather than the 4.
I am assuming the rubber tyres are original, although perished they are more or less intact.
Now looking for the bigger ones perhaps a 12 or even a14in!!

Hi Clive I'm glad it's found
Hi Clive I'm glad it's found it's new home finally. Someone told me recently they have a mower they thought it was called a climax after I told them about this one, I asked what size it was, they said it was a 14 inch blade. I jumped up and down and went round to find it was a Max, but of the Maxees kind. Just a little gutted.
I'll be coming to see you in a few weeks, if you spot anything over this way I'm happy to collect and bring it over.
Lee.
Cheers Lee, bring a big

hdtrust - Andrew If you rub
hdtrust - Andrew If you rub the arm on the right you might find the date in the casting.
Is there any particular likely spot, or was it just done randomly ?
Here is one I conserved earlier :
Hi Collin go past the writing
Hi Collin go past the writing on the right-hand side and stop just short of the nut,it might be fine but the date will be there indented in the frame not raised
Best Andrew
Be careful on finding anymore
Be careful on finding anymore, they are becoming common, then the price will drop! It will make Stan Hardwick go limp at the wallet! He's been paying around £2000 a time.
Stan was in the Star last week,it said now 80,that means self insolating no mower trips for Stan!
Lucky find,have we been to
Lucky find, have we been to Essex again! Ours is a 10inch machine. If you rub the arm on the right you might find the date in the casting. The original wheel rubber is actually gutta percha, and it perishes with age
