Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s

Hi all

New here and hoping someone can help with a question. I have recently acquired a Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s but the recoil starter was broken so the old user removed it and now can’t find it. I have rang my local lawnmower spares department but they unable to tell me which one I need without an engine number or make of engine. Problem is where is the marking on the engine as I can’t see anything. Would anyone be able to shed some light on this for me please ?

Thanks in advance

Scott

A photo of your engine will almost certainly answer your question. A picture’s worth a thousand words!

Looks like an A98.  The starter is still available as a pattern part as is the plastic rotating screen that fits behind it.

Could also be a later A114.

Could also be a later A114. If so, stamped on the Dellorto carb will be FCH-20-13A. If an A98 it will be FCH-20-11A. Other ways to tell but this is the easiest. Not that this maters to the recoil starter - not knowing what these pattern parts cost... but could be equal to a complete 43 as spares?
