T. &W. Green & Mathers' Impts. in Chains for Giving Motion to Chain Wheels, &c.
an endless chain ƒ, by preference constructed in the manner above described, passes. The grooved friction wheels and the chain wheels on the axes a1 and 6', are made of suitable diameters in order that the friction wheels and the endless chain shall cause the two axes a1 and b1 to revolve at the same relative speeds. In place of friction wheels, other friction surfaces may be employed, as before stated.
In witness whereof, I, the said Robert Mathers, have hereunto set my hand and seal, this Twenty-seventh day of June, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.
