Hi All I recently bought a automatic lawnmower called Mowbot that I would like to find out more about. It was made by a company in New York in the late sixties ( in 1968 I believe) I have been able to find out a little bit about it by searching the web ( there is a modern Mowbot from Australia but that is not the one I have, Mine is big and yellow) I would love to find out more about it, anything is interesting and I would also like to find out more about the company ( Mowbot inc New Yourk USA) Do you know about any collectors in the US that might know more? A good link I found (Popular Mechanics 1969) http://goo.gl/yDJpD All my best Per

The Mowbot brand is manufactured by an Italian Company, Ambrogio, and is still marketed in the UK and elsewhere . Not sure whether "genuine Mowbots" were ever made in the US or whether the name has been pirated.  When I was in the garden machinery trade we sold several machines that, in the right application, were reasonably successful but at that time not without their quirks. I still run one that was bought by a customer against my recommendation for his application but has served me well for three seasons. if you are happy with "cut grass" rather than "a mown lawn" they do a fair job.

There are several companies in the robotic mower market place in the UK with quite a lot of rebranding of  the same base machines but at the moment they are still an expensive option.

Hi Angus,

Thanks for your feedback, I know Ambrogio they are actually sold in Sweden and are very good I hear

But that is not what I have, mine is much older, mine is from 1968 or 1969 and made in New York, USA.

If I find out more about it I will get back to the forum.

All my best
