Hi,

I've recently lost an Atco maintenance and parts list manual, and can't remember what is was called.

It had numerous Atco cylinder mowers all in one booklet - all different size models with the breakdown of machine and part lists.

Any advice or ideas on what this may be would be very much appreciated, or even where I could get hold of another one.

Thanks

Do you mean something like this? They tend to have general info, but half way through they will detail the specific model , ie this one is 12 & 14in 4 strokes, but many are on sale on ebay without reference to which model they relate to, & care re prices, again on ebay there is one for £100 !!!!!!, I may have what you want for £5-£10!

Are you looking for a specific model?

I’ve never seen an official Atco publication covering maintenance and parts lists for more than one model; unless the OP is referring to one covering different sizes of the same model such as one for the four stroke De Luxe machines of the the 1960/ 70s , covering 14, 17 and 20” machines . Certain editions of that publication also had period images of an Atco service depot, workshop and offices etc and a wonderful pre photoshop image of a line up of service vehicles and their white coated drivers.

The pages Angus has posted can be found on the inside of many Atco manuals from the 60s with covers like the one Clive posted.

Atco appears to have taken a fairly "standardised" approach to its manuals during this period. Most of the booklets I have seen are separated into three sections:

Section 1: Hints about mowing and lawn maintenance

Section 2: Information specific to the particular model or group of models

Section 3: Service organisation and contact details

There are a couple of versions of these manuals (eg some have later photos of the service vehicles and inside the factory, some have green italic captions and others are black). But the general layout is more or less the same and the text and images for Sections One and Two are the same in each booklet. This seems to have changed towards the end of the decade or during the early 70s when the technical information was nearer the front (at least for some).

There are two manuals of this format on our site and I am working on producing others using the originals.

The manual I had was white, the best way I could describe it is that it was like a master manual of all different atco models. Never seen one like this before and can't find anything like it.

Is it possible that it wasn't an official Atco publication but a "Haynes type" manual of the day?

Hi

Yes I know the one,yes it was white with Atco in Gold, and two bold gold and black lines which ran horizontally across the front and A4 in size.It was printed in 1981.On opening there was a bit about the history of Atco with a small sepia picture of a Donkey mower in use.Made to look old,the Donkey was called Ben and the picture was taken in the grounds of a house called Wallingfield now long since gone.(if you google the word Wallingfield you might get a suprise!)

As you say it did cover all the machines

I should have a spare copy in the stores

Kind regards

Andrew

That sounds very familiar! I thought it could of been a black and green band. If you have a spare copy and it is the book I'm thinking of would it be for sale?

Thanks
