35s Pull starter recoil assembly

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

I am re-assembling a Qualcast 35s for our cricket club, but I can't locate any of the screws needed to attach the pull starter recoil assembly. I've tried several local mower and hardware stores, but no one can help me find the proper size screws. Can anyone help point me in the right direction in order to find the 4 screws needed to complete my task. Thanks very much.

Folk have been known to have used self tappers too, bean can type metal cannot be threaded with any certainty. This is the Bosch version of the machines with Tecnamotor engines I think.

Just had a look and those screws were Tecumseh part number 291901160, Screw 8-32 (L 8mm). The thread is a finer pitch than normal self tappers , maybe 32tpi.

If you want to try for the genuine article it would be worth asking at the Gateshead Mower Centre who bought all the Suffolk and Qualcast parts stock; Meadowbrook Enterprises who cleared out Tecumseh’s stock when they closed down, ot try Jon Cruse at the Hailsham Mower Centre who carries all sorts of obsolete parts.
