Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43sk Engine ID
I'm planning on restoring my mower this summer and I've been researching a fair bit to make sure I know what im taking on. I am posting here to find out the engine my mower has, I've gathered its either an A114 or an A98, I searched the forums but was unable to find info to help me. I have checked the carb as i know looking for FCH-20-13A or 11A on a dellorto can help- couldnt find anything- its all assembled right now but i assumed it would be stamped on the outside anyway
I'm thinking now its a Tillotson carb, i saw a diagram wristpin linked on a thread i saw
I will try to attach the photos here.
Any guidance/advice related to my mower from the fountains of knowledge on OLC would be appreciated
Cheers, Andy

I think A114. Think the mechanical governor ( lever from back of crankcase) is A114 and the A98 had air vane governor and usually Zenith carb ( link from back of cowling near the top)
Correct as far as it goes but while the original A98 did have an air vane governor, points ignition and a zenith carb, it was soon replaced by a modified version, still called an A98 but with a mechanical governor, Dellorto carb and electronic ignition. So those features alone can't be relied upon to distinguish between the A98 and A114 engines.

There is one big clue in the photo, it has to be an A114, it has an electric starter, no A98 had one.

Thanks for the info, I had read it at the time but forgot to reply.
the mower was working good at the time (and still is) so I decided I will start on it at a later date- probably after this mowing season

43SK. Doesn’t the K stand for Kawasaki ?. The engine in your image ain’t no Kwaker ! More like an electric start A114 Suffolk lump with what looks like a Tillotson carburettor. No self adhesive tin foil ID plate stuck to the engine mounting platform?
Looks like its an A114 yes…
Looks like its an A114 yes with the electric start.
And pretty sure Tillotson carb too.
Serial number plate is one of the photos in the original post I've attached it here anyway in case its not showing up.
