Milton Keynes Museum - Diane Roder
I am sure that our many members who have attended our annual rally at Milton Keynes Museum over the years will be sad to hear that Diane Roder who looked after the tea room died a couple of weeks ago.
Diane was one of the longest standing volunteers at the museum, having started helping there in the late 1970s (I don't know precisely when because it was even before I started). She was at every one of of our annual rallies (bar one as I recall) providing refreshments of all kinds. Lunch was always on the menu and for many years she came in first thing in the morning to provide breakfast for those of us staying on site overnight or arriving early. For several years she also organised a meal for us on Saturday evenings.
Diane had been suffering from illness for some time but was still going to the museum until just a week or so before she died. I can't think of any volunteer who has spent more time there or made such a contribution in the 30 years I have myself been a volunteer there. I think it's fair to say that she made a big difference to our event and I know she will be missed greatly.
Diane’s funeral will be held at Crownhill Crematorium in Milton Keynes on Monday 23 September at 1.15pm. I will be attending to represent the club and as a friend.
The hearse will leave from Milton Keynes Museum. Afterwards there will be refreshments at the Museum.
Thank you for letting us…
Thank you for letting us know the sad news, Keith. One of the things that stood out for me of visits to the rally was Diane looking after us and looking out for us as well, always with a smile. I will miss her.
