Thought I would start another post inspired by the new exhibition of the Budding's Patent Mower at the wonderful Museum of Gardening in Sussex.

A Bucket list destination for anybody,  regardless of whether a Lawnmower Fan or not!

As I probably mentioned....Last September we visited Ipswich Transport Museum, solely to

 see  the oldest known surviving

Mower in the World   No. 1623.

Please find a selection of photos I took…

Yes I agree Paul well worth a visit, I have been helping their volunteers identify & deal with surplus mowers over the last year or so, their display has now been re-organised to accommodate more mowers in the limited space available. They are just focusing on Ransomes, Atco, Suffolk & Qualcast being the mowers manufactured in the area.

Some more up to date images attached below, if visiting check the website for opening times as they have limited opening hours, opening up Sun 30th Mar 2025 & then usually weekends & school holidays.

Thank you for the photos of the current display  at Ipswich Transport Museum,   Surely they haven't got rid of the wonderful Birmingham made Atco car and the Manchester made  F&B Climax?   They also had another historic Mower there, not made locally.

The 3 photos were sent to me & do not include the full display, I understand all original mowers are included.

Oh, Thank you,  I got home from work,  saw the rearranged photos; without looking,  I see on closer inspection the S handles on the Follows & Bate Climax. (My eyesight!)

When I visited on a Sunday, there wasn't many "Mower curators"  on site, but I did hear talk of  one say "were getting rid of all the mowers not  made in Suffolk!"

Hopefully its all still there for people to enjoy.   And the gorgeous Atco Car still on site!
