misidentification and help reassembling

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

Happy Easter all.

I am having troubles reassembling a mower. I took photos before disassembly but did not check the quality. Now i am trying to put it all back together and find myself in difficulty.

I thought that the mower was a Webb AB 1476, based upon the grass box having that name on it. It being a 18" cut. And powered by a B&S 2.0 HP engine type 60102

Some people have generously responded to earlier please for help with some photos of their own Webb AB1476's and AB 1474's along with parts manual.

Looking at those pictures, they are similar to but not the same as mine.

I attach some photos below to see if anyone has the same, or can help with in particular 2 bits of information that i am missing and can't work out.

How is the clutch lever mounted and operated and how is the main central sprocket mounted.

There are too many photos to post here, so if you want more, then i can do another forum topic, or email directly - whatever is recommended ?

Hello Colin,

As I mentioned on the previous thread, I feel this machine is of Southern hemisphere origin rather than UK and feel it could be the chassis type that has appeared under several badges in UK, including Masport.   Flymo/Norlett for another, the second Honda cylinder mower range and also Wolf Garten badged.   More recently similar was used with an Atco Clipper badge with the current owners of the Atco name and maybe even the current Cobra Fortis cylinder mower....whilst similar chassis there will be detail differences along the the way, through the years.

If you do a search on this forum for Atco Clipper 20 and also Honda HC20 I'm sure you'll see some photos upon which you will recognise the similarity with your sprockets, clutch and chain.

Searching online for Masport cylinder mower may help with some parts drawing which whilst not sure they will be 100% identical could give a general direction for assembly,

I'm 34 years out of the mower world, career change, but still watch from the sidelines :)

All best,

             Clive.

Colin,

Do you have some more photo's of the mower before disassembly or if not, handle, covers, engine that could lead to a better identification?

Regards, Henno

Hi Colin,

Look at this older thread:
Honda HC20 cylinder mower | The Old Lawnmower Club
3rd photo from the top, is chain side of your mower.

Here is it in 16" version:
Honda HC 16 Self Propelled Cylinder mower

But with a Honda grassbox, which could have been replaced with a Webb version since the frame where the grassbox rests on is similar to that on the Webb's.
Even some HC16 mowers and parts available on eBay: Honda Hc16 for sale | eBay

Clive, thanks for the tips.

Searching on here for Honda HC20 threw up a previous post with some pictures, Identical to myt mower. It shows the layout of the chains, perfectly, which i had already worked out, the details missing are of how the clutch is attached and the large central sprocket is mounted.

I will see if i can trac k down that poster and ask if he still has that mower if he can take some photos showing what i need or can let me know.

That poster is BertPleizier

Thank you

getting closer,  just when i had boxed it all up and p[ut it to the back of the garage

Thanks Henno, That pdf is helpful

I Think that I'm slowly getting there

Quite different to working on aircraft !

But I'll have to give the Qualcast 35S a service to get the lawn mowed, or the missus will be moaning more than usual :)
