Hayterette Carb issues engine no 100708 013901 88011625

I've just acquired an old Hayterette in good condition but I can't get it to run. It starts with quick start and some help from some calor gas but will not run from the fuel from the tank. It has a Walbro LMS 5 carburetor Part number 490751 (superseded by 492499). These carburetors only seem to be available at over £100, so about what the mower is worth. I have cleaned the Walbro carb reasonably well but still no joy. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. My first thought is to find an alternative part from ebay but I can't find a suitable match. Can anyone help me please with any advice.

With any engine running…
With any engine running fault, as in most scenarios, there are lots of variable factors, especially without knowing the case history.
1. Why replace a carburetor? 90% of the time its just meticulous cleaning and follow assembly to the letter and jet settings. I'm not that up on the modern Briggs & Stratton Carb's, more used to the old B&S Pulsa-Jets on the old Haterette's with the B&S "Classic" 3.5hp engine. Often clean jet ways and new good gaskets, etc is all that is needed.
Always note carb. jet settings before dismantling. Suggest a gasket and jet kit if they do one.
As I say, not familiar with taking modern B&S carb's apart
2. Was the machine running ok before carb. "adjusted"
In any engine my opinion and my fathers opinion on using ether gas to start an engine is wrong, it does the engines no good and if the engine mechanically sound and adjusted should not need it. This is one of those hotly contested topics...anyway I digress.
Somebody sprayed ether gas in an engine and when my father went ti start it (crank handle start) Dad broke his wrist, and has had a plate in it for 40 years!
If only starts with ether gas, I suggest it needs a mechanical rebuild.
With lots of B&S engines second hand on mowers where the cutterdeck has rotted out, I would suggest donor engine / donor engine parts.....
We look forward to photos.
