I've added a nice original condition Astral Mk2 to my collection today. This cuts wonderfully as it is but would benefit from a re-sharpen. What would be the age range of one of these? Talking to the chap I collected it from, he tells me his father acquired this around 50 years ago from a bowling club in Ashington. He only sold this reluctantly to me as it's fairly heavy and as he's

 in his 90's thought it was time to let it go.

An excellent find, we don't see that many Astrals, the Mk2 intro in 1952 & last sold 1959. 

Mk1 replaced the Anglia in1948 & was considered to be a domestic version of the Certes.

I don't remember ever coming across a 16in, they may have been for export?

Thanks Clive. The grassbox decal is Late King George, so after 1952 I assume. I'm in the process of giving it a light clean and oiling. The previous owner pumped grease into the oilways and they are now blocked. One of the oil nipples has also been lost, if any club members have anything suitable spare or can suggest a modern equivalent please let me know.
