Ransomes sixteen mk2
Hi all. New to the forum.
I recently picked up a ransomes sixteen mk2 with a villiers engine. I’m trying to find a replacement for the air filter which sits inside the cylindrical choke housing. The one in it is very bad indeed, beyond a clean, it does seem to be
a replacement of earlier ones as it’s got the orange polyurethane body with pleated paper filling. It’s marked TECALMIT B3.
I’ve searched around and got nowhere. I’m thinking of buying some air filter foam and making one to fit.
Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for replying. Yes it is the Amal carb 379 with renewable paper filter apparently. I’ll try and contact them. I think it may end up being a diy job, and just keep my on on the plug colour I guess. Thanks again though for taking the time.

Hello,
I believe its the 65cc Villiers Lightweight Industrial Engine / Formerly the 65cc BSA Lightweight Industrial Power Unit fitted.
I haven't worked on or owned one of this model, I see online L&S don't have a few parts listed, but not the air filter.#(probably an Amal or similar)
There is an excellently stocked and knowledgeable company called VilliersParts .co.uk who would be able to advise.
As you say, a Sponge of similar "air flow" permeability would do. naturally too dense and it would cause over-fuelling.
I hope this helps. If you can see the Carb. make / model etc. more online searching may help.
