I found this while looking for material for my mower based Facebook page.

It's an interesting piece on Stan Hardwick's collection with some great photos. I'm not sure I'd still be married if I started keeping mowers in the conservatory though.......

He's a regular at the Old Lawnmower Club annual rally, which I believe you attended. I talked to him about the article at the rally last year and he said the mowers are in there for the article. Very interesting guy to talk to, his collection is fantastic, as you can see from the pictures.

I agree, Aled. The collection looks superb & there's nothing wrong with a bit of artistic license for the "gentlemen" of the press. Am I right in thinking that the blue mower to Stan's left in the picture of him on the lawn is a Green's Prince? If it is, it gives me a better idea of a colour match for painting  the one I picked up at the Rally.

In the first picture, the blue and red sidewheel is a Shanks Britisher. In the second photo, the blue roller mower is a Qualcast Major.

Thanks Keith, I'll have to cast my net further.

In other news, I'm just back from a successful day showing at the Holbeach Town and Country Fayre (fomerly the Holbeach Vintage rally) in south Lincs. I took 8 mowers including a trio of Automatons, had a nice pitch near the Vintage Horticultural and Garden Machinery Club's exhibits and spread the word! Listening to the cricket in a deckchair was good too......
