Use jaw puller ? Yes no ?
Hi , I want to remove this off the axle to continue cleaning. Should I get a jaw puller to remove it, if so I do I get it back on , just hammer away or is ther a better way. Thanks for any help , it is part of a Eclipse Model L

Thank you Wristpin, will take your advise and leave it alone, I was just trying to get a better look at the bearings do get some grass remnants out. Also the bearings look grease free, there is a filler cap on the outside. We're bearings in these just oiled instead of being packed wapiti grease

I think that you are more
I think that you are more likely to find the answers to your question on your side of the pond but the manufacturers of many UK made machines of that era recommended regular oiling l rather that grease . An SAE 50 would probably be ideal but a 30 easier to find in small volumes - over here , anyway.

Looks as though it may be a bearing cone that slides along the shaft, do you have a parts diagram that will give a clue ? What component has been unscrewed from the threaded boss in the image . The indentations on the shoulder suggest that they are provided for a C spanner (wrench??) to hold it while whatever screws on is locked against it.
If you are not sure about how / whether it comes off and its not vital to move it, I'd leave it alone.
