ransomes 14 running problem
Hi guys I have a ransomes 14 bsa engine and runs lovely until it gets hot then dies and wont run properley until cooled again.
I still have a spark at that point so seems like lacking fuel.... as im typing this it occurs to me that a valve must be sticking as it warms up even though I reground the valve seats last year.
Any thoughts or advice?.

I will remove the valve cover next time,Not sure how long it runs for... Maybe a few minutes! then dies.
I have tried to release the fuel cap when it stops but has no affect.
Releasing the cap when it
Releasing the cap when it stops won’t work as by that time the carb will be empty. Release it half a turn or so before you start and see whether the machine keeps going.

Yes hole in fuel cap was blocked, Unblocked Started and run very well for a couple of minutes then stopped and wont restart..Has spark..has compression... valves moving freely?

Possibly back to the carb. A thorough and careful strip and clean. Know anyone with an ultra sonic cleaning tank?
Hi, I don’t know anything
Hi, I don’t know anything about these but have you checked the fuel tap (if it has one) if it has a filter it may be blocked. Can you check there is fuel at the carb end of fuel pipe when it dies.
I would agree with all the
I would agree with all the above on a fuel issue to check first. The heating / cooling down period could just be the amount of time needed for a restricted fuel supply to top up the carb so it starts again. Per Nick above, easy check on the tank is to pull of the supply line to carb and see if you have decent fuel flow from tank, if that's good then per Wristpin, carb strip and US clean.

Lucky to have 2, So tried the carb off the other and seems to stay running.
The other one when it stopped I removed the float cap and seems the fuel isn't filling high enough so need to look at what's going on with that one.
No! False alarm, Still stops
No! False alarm, Still stops running when warmed up.
Still good spark, Valves moving freely, Carb has had a full strip down and rebuild ( There was a load of crud in the bottom of the float chamber), all jets and holes clear and clean.
Fuel tank cap left loose even though the breather hole is clear.
Still have compression when it stops.
For a simple engine it is giving me some grief.

Had the head off looks like I need a new gasket!
Any ideas where I can get one please?
Also struggling to find air filters.
I guess compression could not
I guess compression could not have been too good if it needs a new head gasket? I read that you reground the valves, did you replace it then or did it spit out bits of the old one?
Link to the BSA engine manuals on this site _> https://www.oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/technical/engines/manuals
It may help if you are able to provide more info on what model Ransomes and BSA engine you have - pics & numbers would help. Gaskets and air filters should not be too hard to find if narrowed down to right engine and carb

Your best bet is Paul at Meetens.
I doubt if its a sticking
I doubt if its a sticking valve - does it still have compression when it stops? As soon as it stops, you can always whip the valve chest cover off and watch the valve movement.
How long does it run for? Could just be a blocked fuel tank vent - try running with the tank cap slightly loose.
