Hi folks.

I am hoping to get hold of an original JP Maxees 3 User Instruction Manual to accompany my mower that I hope does'nt look too bad now?

I hope someone in the club might be able to help me out? More than happy to pay for one.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Regards.

Rob

Nice restoration Rob.

Did you re-plate any of the parts (eg the eccentric bar clips).  How did you replicate the JP Maxees Serial number label on the Rt Hd side-frame?  Grateful for any details.  Did you split the rear-roller?

Tony

Hi Tony. Thanks for the kind words on the Maxees restoration. None of the parts, eccentric bar clips, handle bar name plate screws etc which were rusted have been plated. I left them soaking in White Vinegar (see photos)and then used a small Wire brush to remove the stubborn stuff then they had a re soak in the Vinegar an a coating of oil afterwards. I use the mower regularly and after each use i put another dab of oil on to hopefully stop the rust forming. I removed the original Mower Model name and Serial Number label on the side of the mower, scanned it and sent it to my mate Dave 'Titch' Sanders who produced the new label. Well pleased with it!! Titch can be contacted at www.machinerydecals.co.uk.  I did not split the rear roller assembly (beyond my skill set!!). I knew that bearings needed replacing and the inner workings of the rear roller probably needed attention so i took it to John Gregory at The Old Lawnmower Company (they advertise on the back of the 'Grassbox' magazine.) John replaced seized bearings, sorted out an issue with the adjustment mechanism, dismantled the rear roller assembly freeing up one of the free wheel ratchets inside and also sharpened the cutting cylinder for me. John did a great job and hopefully the photo of my lawn after using the mower proves it. Cheers Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the info re the labels.  Definitely interested in that.

For your information, I have worked up a "Haynes" type of manual for dismantling and reassembly of the JP Maxees and JP Minor, complete wih pictures. It could you you guidance on how to do it yourself in the future if you need.  Bearings can be knocked out using a lump hammer and a socket set of the right size.

Let me know if you want the guide.....whats the next mower??
