Cheap Certes for sale

I've not seen one like this (a very early one?) It does look like time has taken its toll even to a non expert like myself, I'd be concerned what I sheared off when stripping it, plus what state the bearings may be in. Could be a good buy for someone as it never sold at the starting bid of £95 and was relisted.

I Was surprised it never sold at that price, other end of the country from me which is a shame,  it is in an unloved condition, but easy to save with care. They may pack it and post it. Would consider Clive's Certes body for parts/doner if compatible, would still be a reasonable figure knowing what they have previously fetched.

Looking closer at the photos, it's a MK2, wether Clive's model would be suitable for a doner would need to be investigated, but saying that the mower looks ok, bit rusty but looks complete to me but im not a Certes expert. If I had money and time to burn I'd have a bid or get in touch at least.

274168627064 is the item number on the bay.

I wonder if the grass box is the same and would fit Clives certes? I think the attachments look different.

Hi Warpa. Have you also seen the Certes M8 on E Bay?. 3 bids up to now, £10.50 highest bid at the moment, £35.00 postage. Cheers. Rob

I missed that listing Rob, I have it on watch just incase I can afford it. Probably a few here will be watching too.

Yes an interesting Certes, the old ones don't appear that often & with a box this is a good collectors machine, I have the Mk1 that was the introduced in 1924, with the Mk5 coming in 1938, Aluminium back rollers were around in 1934 or possibly earlier, so I would assume the mk 2 is probably late 1920's?.

I have just picked up a reasonable Mk12 16in  today in a job lot of 30 plus mowers, will probably need to go down the auction route as being sold for the charity, so need best price.

Oh Clive, why do things like this come along at this time of year! I could have picked that up from you. I need to get the colour put down on the ajax I'm doing to sell, that is my project to fund a certes.
