Mower couriers

Have any of you used a courier to ship in or ship out a mower within the UK? If so what is the better company and how is it actually done? Or are there companies that just pick a complete mower up and no need to have the handles removed?

Hi Warpa,

I had the very nice bloke up north pack up the Dudley Works Vantage and sent to me via Hermes( got to watch spelling checker there)

It's a lightweight mower and the handles fold in half so it only came in a small box, I paid him £8.50 for the postage as he arranged everything. If it's a mower your buying, some sellers will pack or pallet a mower for you to arrange a courier to collect, but you will need weight of package details beforehand. Most refuse.

I was impressed with Hermes and it took about 4 or 5 days to get to me.

I'm sure all the big firms will offer the same, , I haven't sent any so cannot advise on that, just my experience with receiving from Hermes. Hope this helps.

I have personally used Silversprint for over 12 years bringing mowers from Wales, Scotland, all over, check their website for prices etc. Note Hermes have a max weight of 15kg. There are also several couriers that advertise on ebay & simply wheel a mower onto their van, no packing etc..

Hope that helps

What ever you are shipping,if it has a motor make sure no oil is dripping as all carriers will refuse. Also if you are wanting a collection to come back to you,the term you should use is third party collection.

For large stuff it is better to be palletised,it can be much cheaper, but most shippers require accounts and for you to be a business.

Be warned any van couriers, can be costly,if not in price but the breakages that can occur

Kind regards
